A Sobering Story

Recently received this email from my neighbor's daughter. Instead of forwarding in an email to all of you, I thought I would post it and ask that you send this to anyone who has a teenager...

Jenny was so happy about the house they had found. For once in her life 'twas on the right side of town.
She unpacked her things with such great ease. As she watched her new curtains blow in the breeze.
How wonderful it was to have her own room. School would be starting; she'd have friends over soon.
There'd be sleep-overs, and parties; she was so happy It's just theway she wanted her life to be.
On the first day of school, everything went great. She made new friends and even got a date!
She thought, "I want to be popular and I'm going to be, Because I just got a date with the star ofthe team!"
To be known in this school you had to have clout, And dating this guy would sure help her out.
There was only one problem stopping her fate. Her parents had said she was too young to date.
"Well I just won't tell them the entire truth. They won't know the difference; what's there to lose?"
Jenny asked to stay with her friends that night. Her parents frowned but said, "All right."
Excited, she got ready for the big event But as she rushed around like she had no sense.
She began to feel guilty about all the lies, But what's a pizza, a party, and a moonlight ride?
Well the pizza was good, and the party was great, But the moonlight ride would have to wait.
For Dan was half drunk by this time. But he kissed her and said that he was just fine.
Then the room filled with smoked and Dan took a puff. Jenny couldn't believe he was smoking that stuff.
Now Dan was ready to ride to the point But only after he'd smoked another joint.
They jumped in the car for the moonlight ride, Not thinking that he was too drunk to drive.
Theyfinally made it to the point at last, And Dan started trying to make a pass.
A pass is not what Jenny wanted at all (and by a pass, I don't mean playing football.)
"Perhaps my parents were right....maybe I am too young. Boy, how could I ever, ever be so dumb."
With all of her might, she pushed Dan away: "Please take me home, I don't want to stay."
Dan cranked up theengine and floored the gas. In a matter of seconds they were going too fast.
As Dan drove on in a fit of wild anger, Jenny knew that her life was in danger.
She begged and pleaded for him to slow down, But he just got faster as they neared the town.
"Just let me get home! I'll confess that I lied. I really went out for a moonlight ride."
Then all of a sudden, she saw a big flash. "Oh God, Please help us! We're going to crash!"
She doesn't remember the force of impact. Just that everything all of a sudden went black.
She felt someone remove her from the twisted rubble, And heard,"call an ambulance! These kids are in trouble!"
Voices she heard...a few words at best. But she knew there were two cars involved in the wreck.
Then wondered to herself if Dan was all right, And if the people in the other car was alive.
She awoke in the hospital to faces so sad. "You've been in a wreck and it looks pretty bad."
These voices echoed inside her head, As they gently told her that Dan was dead.
They said "Jenny, we've done all we can do. But it looks as if we'll lose you too."
"But the people in the other car!?" Jenny cried. "We're sorry, Jenny, they also died."
Jenny prayed, "God, forgive me for what I've done I only wanted to have just one night of fun."
"Tell those people's family, I've made their lives dim, And wish I could return their families to them."
"Tell Mom and Dad I'm sorry I lied, And that it's my fault so many have died.
Oh, nurse, won't you please tell them that for me?" The nurse just stood there-she never agreed.
But took Jenny's hand with tears in her eyes. And a few moments later Jenny died.
A man asked the nurse, "Why didn't you do your best? To bid that girl her one last request?"
She looked at the man with eyes so sad. "Because the people in the other car were her mom and dad."
This story is sad and unpleasant but true, So young people take heed, it could have been you.

Please pass this on...

To the Back, To the Back

Joshua started crawling yesterday, though he has it a little "backwards" so to speak. It was so funny to watch!

He was trying to get to his toys in front of him, and he was VERY determined that he would. Finally, he got rid of his fear and pushed himself on all fours (well, pretty close) and began his mission of crawling.

I was amazed!!!! It was so awesome to see him figure it out.

Well, when he started to move, there was a bit of a problem. Problem was, he was moving backwards. Getting further and further away from that toy, and angrier and angrier that he wasn't getting closer, Joshua finally let out a scream that I have never heard before. He definitely shares in the temper of my Italian heritage, but also the stubborn determination to succeed (which comes from both Shawn and I.)

We'll keep you posted on the progress.

My Diagnosis

Ok, y'all know by now that are home is disease infested...

Tyler is better though, so is Joshua and Shawn, but I began running 103.4 fever last night.
Went to the doctors, put me on the Z-pak and you know what the diagnosis was:

SLEEP DEPRIVATION (are you hearing this dear husband of mine?)
Isn't that part of the job description of a mother? And then on top of it a working mother?
Of course, though, when the doctor saw on my chart where I worked he asked me to email him the latest facts and figures... So instead of getting home and going directly to bed I have been emailing the practice some helpful material.
Then they wonder why I'm sick.

Bragging Rights

I have to show off one of the jobs Shawn just finished (on a multi-million dollar home.) He does such great work. It is an outdoor kitchen with a brick oven (for cooking pizzas.)

Update on Joshua

We went to the doctors yesterday morning, and yes, he has an ear infection. They said it was really bad, that they were surprised his ear drum didn't rupture.

As a mom, for me, it makes me feel bad that I didn't look at that any worse in the beginning then I did. But he didn't show any symptoms until Friday....and all that was was a fever. As soon as he started to act worse I called the doctor.

Well, they put him on Augmentin and as of 3 pm today he was still running 103.5 fever. I'm sure he'll get rid of it soon, but it makes me sad to see him sick.

Up All Night, Sleep All Day?

Once again, Joshua and I are up. His little fever hit over 103.5 degrees (doctors office first thing in the morning.)

Officially, I have not had 9 hours of sleep in 3 days. This is bad and I am tired.

All I think it is is an ear infection, but those little buggers can spike a fever!

Oh, well, maybe since its Saturday, Shawn can take over and I can sleep.

In Need of Other Motherly Advice

Ok, I know most of you who read this have families of your own. So I need some advice....

I started both boys in a daycare this week which is very good and came highly recommended.

Tyler, who is on summer break and will start 1st grade this year, is in what is called "kid depot." Not really a daycare like setting, they take field trips once a week and it's more laid back and not so structured (I don't think at his age, any center is too structured,) but they do have to go from computers to soft play to reading to crafts and so on.

Joshua, on the other hand, is in the daycare-like setting and seems to be doing awesome. I swear he has grown up so much in just four days.

Where the needed advice is...is with Tyler.

Tyler, is not happy. He says there is too much to do. Not that he's bored, but that he doesn't get time because he has to go from one area to another. I am actually thinking of taking him out. He actually cries in the morning saying he doesn't want to go. I've never seen that out of him before.

Any suggestions?

A New Tooth

Joshua has a tooth!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Would you like to know how I found out?

I'll give you a hint....I still nurse him ( only at night and first thing in the morning.)

Still don't know? (For my mom)

He bit my boob!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Sorry to the men who read this.)

I guess this weekend we will wrap up this nursing thing.
